Mohanlal A
Independent Director
Mr. Mohanlal A is a graduate of NIT Trichy with a degree in Electrical Engineering and holds a Master’s in Project Management from the University of Manchester, UK. He is a seasoned professional in engineering and project management, with nearly four decades of experience in the oil and gas sector, particularly in refinery operations and project execution. He retired from BPCL Kochi Refinery in May 2020, where he served as Chief General Manager of Engineering and Advisory Services playing a pivotal role in multiple high-profile projects through his tenure.
His Key Achievements while in service:
As the head of Utilities, Electrical, and Instrumentation for the INR 16,500 Cr. IREP (Integrated Refinery Expansion Project), he was responsible for the design, planning, organization, monitoring, and control of all aspects of the critical electrical, instrumentation, and utility systems (air, water, and steam) for the refinery. He ensured the project was completed safely, within the prescribed timeline and budget.
He oversaw an INR 80 Cr. 220kV substation project for Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) under a unique build-and-transfer model. Being first of its kind for KSEB, he successfully executed the entire project lifecycle, from conception to commissioning and handover, through strategic stakeholder management, completing the work on time and safely.
He was selected by the Government of India for an international assignment with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Port Harcourt, Nigeria. There, he served as an advisor to the Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Department for two years, providing expert guidance on critical systems and operations.
Post-retirement, Mohanlal A was appointed by the Government of Kerala as Managing Director of a public-private partnership company. During his approximately one-year tenure, his leadership significantly improved the organization’s overall performance, helping it achieve a top-tier ranking as evaluated by the Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIFFB), which supports projects for the Government of Kerala.
Since November 2024, he has been serving as the Independent Director of Sowparnika, providing an unbiased perspective to the Company’s Board of Directors.
